Jollibee is famous for a lot of things, but the main reason would have to be its fried chicken. This chicken was so popular and loved by the Filipino people that it even prompted fast food giant McDonald’s to also serve fried chicken in their Philippine branches.

What makes Jollibee’s Chicken Joy so good? I think it’s a combination of the crispy skin, and all the flavors in the breading and juicy chicken meat. This is what I try to recreate in my video below, and I must say, I didn’t do too bad! The skin could’ve been more bubbly but overall, it was pretty close.

Recipe:

For 8 pcs of chicken

  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp five spice

Instructions:

Mix all and use as coating. Deep fry chicken in 50/50 canola and coconut oil

For the gravy:

  • 1 organic stock cube
  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 tbsp of flour coating mixture
  • 1/3 cup milk
